The Synthetic Reed by Vandoren

The Vandroen VK1 reed is made of a composite material specially developed by Vandoren, the result of 7 years of research. It reproduces the essential physical properties of a cane reed, allowing for almost identical acoustical behavior.

The VK1 Reed is washable and consists of a material that is impervious to humidity, resistant to decay, and that maintains its shape during drying. Standing up to saliva exposure, its lifespan is much greater than that of a cane reed.

VK1 Synthetic Reeds are offered in strengths which span the traditional strengths of 2.5 to 3.5, as broken in to six. See diagram for clarification.

Care and Maintenance

To prolong its lifespan, it's recommended to store the VK reed on a level surface, preferably in a suitable reed holder rather than a standard reed protector. Each Vandoren VK1 reed has a unique serial number such as XXX-XXX to prevent counterfeiting.
