Laurence Anderson, a violin maker and restorer with over three decades of experience in crafting and restoring violins, violas, and cellos, began his violin-making journey with a four-year apprenticeship under luthier David Folland in Northfield, Minnesota, starting in 1987. During this period, he honed his skills in the art of violin making and restoration. To further refine his expertise, Anderson studied under renowned masters Vahakn Nigogosian and Horatio Pinero during six summers at Oberlin in the early 1990s.

In 1992, he established his own workshop, where he has since crafted over 50 instruments. His creations are esteemed by musicians across the United States and Canada.

Anderson's instruments are known for their craftsmanship and tonal qualities. His sixth violin, crafted in Northfield, Minnesota, in 1991, exemplifies his early work and dedication to the violin-making traditions.
