Barbara Ongna

Born and raised in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, Barbara loved her piano lessons from the get-go, thanks to skilled and insightful instructors. As soon as she was old enough (but before she felt ready!) she was set on the church’s piano bench and assigned all the assorted joys of church pianists, including hymn-playing, plunking out parts for the choir, and following wayward soloists around their time signatures of choice.

Barbara attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where she learned that “if ya ain’t Dutch, ya ain’t much.” (She also received a degree in Music Education with Piano Emphasis.)

Barbara taught Music in Christian Schools for several years but has been a part of Schmitt Music’s Keyboard Sales Team for 30 years, now serving as Director of Keyboard Sales for M.I. stores. Passions outside of work include Church Worship- - -she loves the great hymns of the church as well as contemporary praise and worship. She keeps stretching musically by studying jazz piano and theory and enjoys solo and ensemble work as well as accompanying musicians of all ages.
